How to Choose Self Leveling Tools

Build the Tool List Around the Compound
Identify the compound and layer first. Select the mixing container, spreading edge and permitted finishing tools for that method. The ARIK mixing product is a container; match the mixer and paddle separately. Add a spiked roller or shoes only where the material procedure permits them.
Identify the Compound and Its Role
Record whether the proposed material is a cementitious underlayment, another mineral leveller or a resin system. Note its current technical data sheet, substrate, primer, intended thickness and area. The word self-leveling does not mean that any mix can be poured and left alone. Tool selection follows the manufacturer’s mixing, spreading and finishing method. A tool list for one compound should not be copied to another solely because both descriptions mention levelling or a smooth floor.
Match the Mixing Container to the Required Equipment
Self Leveling Mixing Tools covers the ARIK mixing container in this selection. Check its usable batch capacity, shape, handles, stability and cleaning requirements against the compound instructions. Separately verify the required mixer, paddle and drive connection; their inclusion is not established by the container listing. The paddle needs suitable clearance within the vessel. Include accurate water measurement where required. Compare whether each batch can be mixed consistently, handled safely and delivered without interrupting the planned pour.
Wood or Plastic Handle Squeegee?
Choose Wood Handle Squeegee ou Plastic Handle Squeegee after comparing verified working width, holder, blade attachment, rigidity and permitted use. Handle material can affect handling preference, but it does not determine the installed layer thickness. Decide first whether the compound calls for a gauging tool, a serrated spreading edge or a smooth finishing tool. Check that the available blade fits the holder securely. The Squeegee Blade Compatibility guide explains why width alone is insufficient.
| Selection point | What to check |
|---|---|
| Working edge | Check the actual blade profile |
| Retention | Identify the holder arrangement |
| Working position | Assess control and access |
Use the Hand Tool Where It Adds Control
Consider Hand Spreading Tool for local placement, edges or touch-ups only where the compound instructions permit that technique. It can complement a larger spreading arrangement around obstacles. It should not encourage repeated working of a mix that has already lost flow. Compare clearance around pipes, door frames and boundaries, and how easily the tool can be kept clean during a continuous operation. A small area still needs the specified material preparation and mixing controls.
Spiked Rollers and Shoes Are Conditional
Choose Spiked Rollers when the exact compound calls for them, at its prescribed stage. Check spike length and form against the intended layer and tool instructions; do not assume that a visibly longer spike is better. Consider Chaussures à pointes only where access over the fresh material is permitted. Their spike material, securing arrangement and the planned exit route matter. Neither tool corrects an unsuitable substrate, wrong mix ratio or missed working window. List conditional items separately from the essential mixing and spreading equipment.

Separate the Container, Spreader and Finish
ARDEX’s tool kit lists containers, a spreader and a smoother by role. Sikafloor-200 Level instructions make rolling conditional on the application method. Choose the container, spreading edge and permitted finishing tools as separate parts of the plan.
Match the Tool List to the Crew and Pour
Draw the pour route and identify who mixes, moves, spreads and finishes each batch. Check the mixer supply, containers, clean tools, boundaries and access before the first batch. Choose working widths that the crew can control around the actual obstacles. Include cleaning between approved stages and protection after placement. A broad tool is useful only when the material supply and operator can keep its working edge under control. Practise the route on an unfilled area first.
Prepare an Enquiry That Can Be Checked
Send the compound name and data sheet, intended layer, area, substrate and primer details, planned batch method and selected products. State which tools are required and which are conditional. Include the exact holder and blade dimensions if replenishing Squeegee Blades. For distributor orders, group tools by their purpose and clearly label the need to follow each compound’s instructions. This gives the buyer a usable set without implying that every listed tool is required for every pour.

Questions fréquemment posées
Is a spiked roller always required?
No. Its use and timing depend on the exact compound and application method.
Does a notch size guarantee the finished layer?
No. Verify the tool arrangement, substrate and material placement against the compound instructions.
Can cementitious and resin tools share one instruction?
Some tools may be usable in both, but mixing, blade choice, cleaning and timing must be verified separately.
What information do you need for a wholesale quotation?
Send the product names or models, configurations, quantities and delivery destination. You can include mixing buckets, spreaders, spiked rollers and shoes in the same enquiry. The applicable quantity tier, packing details and order conditions will be reviewed for the selected items.
Can you customize the logo or packaging?
Send your logo artwork, preferred placement, packaging requirements and estimated order quantity. ARIK will review the available options for the selected tools and confirm the sample requirements, order conditions and quotation before production.
Can I request samples before a bulk order?
Include the models and configurations you want to evaluate, the intended application and the delivery destination in your enquiry. Sample availability, cost and shipping arrangements need to be confirmed for the selected items before an order is placed.
